Sunday Stats(1)

*Since my family first got an NES, I’ve had a controller in my hands. Exploring new worlds, meeting new characters and experiencing stories… in some ways, I’ve just connected better with the world through games. However, it’s also very important to me to be present in my life, to improve myself, to go out and MEET the people I’ve connected with online and to expand my knowledge. I spend hours in games; how do I level myself up?

In this weekly series, I’ll chronicle how I’ve improved my “stats” with completely arbitrary scoring.*

-2 Intelligence – How did I make myself a little smarter? What did I learn?
I have been seriously slacking on this stat. I have my coding classes to take, guitar to learn and tarot to master. I need to pick at least one of those things to focus on for September. I AM learning that planning even a small wedding is kind of fun, but still not totally drama free.

+2 Charisma – How was I less awkward or more beautiful?
On Monday night, Ryan and I had reservations at Tavern on the Green – one of the most iconic restaurants in NYC. It was another excuse to get all dressed up and teach him which utensils to use when.

+2 Strength – New workouts, breakthroughs, challenges.
I crushed it at the gym all week. If I couldn’t get myself up earlier enough to go in the morning, I forced myself to go after work. It felt really great.

+1 Defense – Where did I consciously avoid or deflect negative energy?
I’ve been a bit eyerolly and irritable this week so I took Friday to disconnect from everyone (except work) and binged ALL of Disenchantment on Netflix where I met my most relatable princess and a demon with life advice I just can’t ignore!

+3 Luck – Something good that happened this week.
We won our skeeball game and ranked 2nd in our league at the end of the regular skeeson. Next stop: Playoffs! I also discovered my new favorite (and sadly super limited edition) sour beer – Fistful of Rubies from Big aLICe Brewing is tart, sweet and just like an explosion of raspberry goodness.

+5 Wealth – How did I save towards my goals?
HUGE news! On Monday, I got a PROMOTION! And with that promotion comes an unbelievable raise that puts me well over a long held goal and plants me firmly and officially in the Six Figure Club. You have no idea how hard I have worked for this.

Savepoint: Midyear review

Savepoint.jpg

I’ve been diligently using my Passion Planner to keep track of my life, my goals and my progress. I chose a word at the beginning of the year to embody my intentions. What have I been able to manifest so far?

Art – I’ve kept up my goal of writing here at a regular cadence. I learned some lettering techniques and doodle in my bujo instead of just writing down ideas and appointments. Now I have a guitar so I’m slowly making music too!

Plans – Well here’s a big one. I’m currently making WEDDING plans. I had no idea that would be a thing at the start of the year. Additionally, I planned time with my sister to get tattoos. Time with friends by planning regular DnD sessions, starting a new skeeball team, and returning to a monthly Nintendo MeetUp cadence.

Intention

Memories – I post to Instagram a lot less, and when I do, it’s after the fact. At concerts, I don’t record. I take a few photos to post later, but spend the vast majority of my time in the moment.

Friends – By prioritizing time with the awesome friends I’ve got, my social circle has expanded a little. At work, I invite colleagues for a post-work drink to get to know them as people.

Money – My little Rover business has really taken off! Last year, I had 2 new clients total. In just the first half of this year, I’ve gotten EIGHT new clients, as well as my regulars. Money is flowing to me easily this year.

How do you feel about your year so far?

-2 Intelligence – How did I make myself a little smarter? What did I learn?
Color me a slacker. I haven’t touched my guitar or my game coding classes in a while. Hold me accountable! Bug me about it!

+3 Charisma – How was I less awkward or more beautiful?
This evening, I got dolled up for a fancy dinner with my guy at the infamous Smith and Wollensky. It was the most perfect evening I’ve had in ages! Dressing up and enjoying a good meal and a bottle of pinot grigio with great company just felt energizing somehow.

+3 Strength – New workouts, breakthroughs, challenges.
MAJOR Skeeball milestone! I practiced my hundreds and NAILED them for a new personal record of 550 points, which was also enough to win the arcade jackpot. Perfect score club, here I come!

+5 Defense – Where did I consciously avoid or deflect negative energy?
My sister came to visit yesterday and we got matching tattoos. She got the little dipper; I got the big dipper. They’re a tiny reminder on our ankles that if we’re ever looking down to look up and look for each other. The constellations are simple, tiny dots, but one dot on each of our tattoos is an actual star. For me it’s the tip of the cup and for her it’s the end of the handle (the North Star). These are the stars that you line up to find True North. So we will never be lost.

+1 Luck – Something good that happened this week.
This was a great week! We kicked ass at skeeball, I balanced time with all my friends, and there was an excellent Nintendo Meet-Up in a thunderstorm!

-3 Wealth – How did I save towards my goals?
Yeahhhh this week was a drain. I’m still on track with my ambitious savings goal, but the credit card payoff goal definitely needs some attention. With less than 6 months to go in the year, I’m going to have to double down on my thriftiness to make that work.

+2 Intelligence – How did I make myself a little smarter? What did I learn?

I wrote a blog post for work which led to a speaking invitation for a community within my organization. Yay!

+3 Charisma – How was I less awkward or more beautiful?
This week, I went back home to Wildwood and did some shopping. I got some cute new summer looks from Miss Demeanor, fresh flip flops and these funfetti flavored Toms from Kona.

+1 Strength – New workouts, breakthroughs, challenges.
Made it back to the gym! It’s so hard to wake up early but it’s worth it to get that endorphin rush!

+2 Defense – Where did I consciously avoid or deflect negative energy?
A visit to Cape May helped me restock on some supplies. I always love stopping at Good Scents for oils and incense. Lots of other shops are embracing the spiritual trends and stocking herbs, along with smudge bundles.

+1 Luck – Something good that happened this week.
Overall this week was productive and energetic. Seeing Beck’s first show at MSG was definitely the highlight. Definitely the best show I’ve seen all year!

-2 Wealth – How did I save towards my goals?
Soooo there’s an event type thing I’m planning and it’s draining some funds but for a very good reason. I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

-3 Intelligence – How did I make myself a little smarter? What did I learn?
I was INCREDIBLY unfocused and distracted this week. So much work drama popped up and social obligations I would have rather turned down ensures my anxiety was beating up my brain. Next week, I plan to minimize distractions by blocking off my calendar for specific work, listening to my productivity playlist and turning off my internet for 3 hours while I work.

-2 Charisma – How was I less awkward or more beautiful?
I was stuck wearing my glasses all week and living the cliche nerd-girl trope of being awkward and clumsy. Here I am after spilling smoothie on my shirt at work. Cool.

The face of awkward geekdom

-2 Strength – New workouts, breakthroughs, challenges.
Sigh… I can’t go to the gym in glasses. They sweat right off my face. Next week, everything changes- gym twice a day, 3x a week and no drinking on weeknights! I need to get into ideal shape by November.

+2 Defense – Where did I consciously avoid or deflect negative energy?
I did alot of spiritual work. Spells, meditation, tarot work… it felt really good. The biggest work was creating a money manifesting wallet, which I’ll write about later this week!

+1 Luck – Something good that happened this week.
Overall it was a good week. As you know, I judge the goodness of my weeks on how much cake there is. And this week, there was a ton of cake. Discovery Channel sent us Shark Week cupcakes, we had a birthday and a farewell party. And my ass is in dire need of the gym now.

-2 Wealth – How did I save towards my goals?
I took some financial hits this week. A February trip to the ER came back to bite me months later. I have a trip home next weekend longer than I was planning which means extra dog sitting expenses for Muldoon. And I had to buy new contacts. Why is life so expensive? Why does healthcare suck so much?

+1 Intelligence – How did I make myself a little smarter? What did I learn?
My feedly was junked up with old, outdated resources, so I made time to cull through it and add in new publications relevant to my industry as well as my career trajectory.

-3 Charisma – How was I less awkward or more beautiful?
This week, I was super awkward. I just felt really antisocial and didn’t want to see or talk to anyone. Throwing myself into work and writing helped.

+1 Strength – New workouts, breakthroughs, challenges.
I hit my fitness goals all week. It was good to get back into a routine post E3.

+2 Defense – Where did I consciously avoid or deflect negative energy?
My coven’s Facebook group has sort of dropped off the map, but my craving for connection has only grown. So I created the Coven of Curiosity on Slack in the hopes of gathering a bunch of awesome witches to inspire and learn from each other.

+3 Luck – Something good that happened this week.
Small things happened every day that were nice. Mini cupcakes for pride, free breakfast, Ryan’s parents came up and brought me Wawa coffee. The week was filled with little treats.

+2 Wealth – How did I save towards my goals?
Two new Rover clients booked, putting my account over $5,000! Ryan mentioned that maybe instead of moving next year, we should stay and keep saving so that we can BUY an apartment! My savings goals outside of Rover are right on track and I made major progress in paying down my debts!

+4 Intelligence – How did I make myself a little smarter? What did I learn?
My brother-in-law taught me how to play Zombie by The Cranberries on his guitar. Now I know my first song!

+1 Charisma – How was I less awkward or more beautiful?
My sister and I got our nails done on Friday before our brother’s wedding. Ignore my sudden stigmata. I went with a Barbie pink, inspired by the Tiny Shoulders documentary on Hulu.

+2 Strength – New workouts, breakthroughs, challenges.
I mixed up the gym this week with stair walking at work. 9 floors is no joke. I’ve even inspired some coworkers to make the climb with me.

+3 Defense – Where did I consciously avoid or deflect negative energy?
On Wednesday I booked a crystal bed session at modrn sanctuary. This time I chose Third Eye frequencies and went into a meditation so deep, I felt like I left my body. I don’t know if I went into a past life or a future one. I don’t remember much of the visualizations now, but when the session was up, I felt my energy come crashing back into my body. I took a sharp gasping breath as if I hadn’t been breathing at all for the 45 minute session! It was strange but the balance I felt when I came back made me feel like a new person.

+1 Luck – Something good that happened this week.
I picked up a couple of crowlers at Victory Brewing, but the server filled one with the wrong beer so I got a third corrected crowler for free!

-3 Wealth – How did I save towards my goals?
I booked my E3 trip for a week in Cali. First I fly into San Jose for two nights then I meet Glux in LA! It’s going to be an awesome trip, but it’s costing me. I hope these sapphire reserve points really do add up fast! It was amazing that my $300 annual travel credit was applied immediately though!
